For 45 years, Democrats Abroad has been a home-away-from-home for the voices and votes of the millions of U.S. citizens living overseas. From humble beginnings in London and Paris, we’ve grown into a truly global organization — with members in more than 150 countries, voting in every state in the union. Join Democrats Abroad around the world — from Sao Paulo to Hong Kong — to celebrate 45 years of going the distance for our Democratic Party.

Why contribute to Democrats Abroad?

Because Democrats Abroad increases our worldwide presence, membership and influence in Washington.

The 2008 elections changed the landscape of electoral politics and Democrats Abroad played a significant role. We made the difference in close races across the country:

Senator Al Franken (D-MN),

Senator Mark Begich (D-AK),

the margin of victory in President Obama’s win in North Carolina,

and Representative Scott Murphy (NY-20) in 2009

But there is more to do and we must continue to show members of Congress and the Obama Administration that Democrats Abroad can deliver victories on election night.

Only twice since Lincoln has the Party in control of the White House maintained a majority in the mid-term elections. In 2010, there are 83 frontline Democratic Congressional incumbents up for reelection and Democratic Senators who face tough reelections in 2010 as well. What is more, there are Democratic pickup opportunities in the Senate. We can make the difference in these races.

To make the difference and deliver votes in 2010, Democrats Abroad will:

Provide funding for newspaper/online ads and targeted voter registration activities around the globe

Promote our online membership and registration tool VoteFromAbroad.org

Use the list we purchased of over 1 million Americans living abroad to reach new members and register voters

Continue to support legislation in Congress to standardize the overseas voting process for all Americans
