Chair – Peter R. Dahlen, B.A., J.D., LL.M. (chair AT democratsabroad.se) from Delaware, USA, is director of government relations and head of education at TransLegal. He received his legal education in the United States at The Catholic University of America and a Master’s in European Intellectual Property Law from Stockholm University. He is admitted to the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars and he is a sought after lecturer in US law, public policy and politics. He has worked on several political campaigns, including Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s 1996 campaign. As a former United States Senate, Committee on the Judiciary Counsel to Senator Biden, provided legal and legislative advice to the Senator on a wide range of subjects. His portfolio included intellectual property, criminal law, privacy, election and campaign finance law, Internet crime and security, and critical infrastructure protection. He has an insider’s understanding of Washington, DC and is an experienced campaign operative. He is a regular lecturer at the Stockholm University Law Faculty on the subject of the U.S. Legislative Process. He also serves as a Director of American Citizens Abroad, and on the Government Relations Committee of The American Chamber of Commerce in Sweden. In 2008, he stepped down as President of The American Club of Sweden to work to get Barack Obama and Joe Biden elected and now serves as Chair of Democrats Abroad Sweden.
